The Many Benefits of Exercise

Classes are growing and our cozy studio is filling as many of you begin to recognize the quick physical effects of barre and Pilates.  In the past two weeks, we've had reports of reduced back pain, released muscle tension and one of our favorite clients was released from physical therapy since she stepped up her Pilates and barre practice.  We are so enthused and, of course, not surprised by the many physical benefits that these techniques have brought about in just a couple of weeks.

What is even more inspiring, however, is the amount of you who have expressed a change in not just your body but in your life as the result of making time to come to Towne Barre.   So many women spend their days consumed with taking care of everyone else.  They work, take care of their families, volunteer at church or community events and give, give, give! Taking time for ourselves comes last if at all.  This leads not only to all of the physical ailments associated with lack of exercise, but also to an emotional stress that has even greater wear and tear on our well being.

Our lives are stressful.  This fact is difficult to avoid.   Taking time for ourselves might seem like a luxury but, in actuality, it's a necessity. Besides, how can we be our best at taking care of others if we are not taking care of ourselves first (think of the oxygen mask on the airplane metaphor!)???

Regular exercise has been proven to decrease stress levels.  Not only does it release those feel-good endorphins in the body, but it provides a distraction from the daily worries that can become consuming if we don't put them in check.  I mean think about it, can you really work out the details of a carpool in your head when you're focusing all of your energy on alignment, core strength, and precise movement?  No way!  Think of it as an equivalent to meditating- it clears your brain and forces you to think of what your body is doing.  Not only does that enhance our mind-body connection, but we get an amazing booty to boot!  Additionally, regular exercise enhances your mood and also contributes to better sleep which, come on, we ALL could use.  With that, energy levels increase, as does metabolism.  It's a win-win!

We want to make Towne Barre that "happy place" for you.  A place where not only can you get an amazing workout, but you can leave feeling a million times better than you did when you walked in the door.  We want you to work hard, focus, and smile.  And we want you to love it as much as we do.

So, we hope to see you this week at Towne Barre.  Let's work, giggle, and relieve some stress together.  See the link below for the week's schedule and plan your week NOW to ensure you get what YOU need.
