#barregoals
Holiday weight gain, New Year's resolutions, winter blues, spring break countdown....whatever your motivation is, now is a great time to start or step up your workout program. Whether it's adding a class or two to your week, joining our running group, swapping out a barre class for some Reformer, or committing to your weekly foam rolling session, the options for challenging your body and varying your program are endless. We firmly believe that the combination of barre and Pilates is the best ways to strengthen you body, improve your posture, build bone density and increase your flexibility- all of which will promote health and longevity.
Our smaller class commitment allows for maximum personal attention and modification for every level and special need. If you haven't made Towne Barre your home for workouts, now is a great time to join us. And if you have and are ready to vary your program, talk to us! We are here to help you make the best of your time at the Barre and make this year your most fit yet!
We asked one of our amazing clients, Emily Parks (pictured above), to write a testimonial. She has been so dedicated in coming to Towne Barre, and we have all noticed the positive changes she has experienced. Take a second to read about her journey below:
Personally, I exercise to relieve stress. I am the cardio queen: I love to run and take spin classes and regularly take part in races and triathlons. I'd much rather go for a six mile run than lift weights any day. But, I know strength training is beneficial so I tried all the classes, body pump, yoga, and even just free weights. I found them boring and they just didn't get the crazy out! As a result of my cardio-only habit, I was fit but not strong.
A year or two ago I tried barre as it was something different. I didn't do it as regularly as I should have until the 20 class challenge held at Towne Barre this past year. The challenge was to take 20 barre classes between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day. Accepting the challenge really gave me the chance to seriously give it a try and reap the benefits of barre.
Boy did I see the benefits! The moves allow me to bear down and really challenge myself, and I found them getting manageable over time. They are fun, with hip tucks and pulses and knee dances. I could finally see muscle definition in my shoulders and biceps for the first time! My clothes fit better and I even lost an inch or two around my legs. Friends complimented me that I looked leaner and I felt stronger. Best of all, being stronger helped my running! My pace is now faster thanks to a stronger core and legs. Who knew barre would help with my favorite sport?
And as my 40th birthday is firmly in the rear view mirror (ahem), some days when I tweak my knee just walking down the stairs I just let Tammy or Anne Marie know and they give me the correct modification to a move to protect the annoyed body part until I'm fine the next day.
And because it's not hard pounding cardio, I find it easier to go to a 5:45am barre class than a 6am three mile run. As I work full-time with a husband, two kids and ALL THEIR SPORTS, I found the early morning classes the easiest way to work it into my schedule. Now that I've seen the benefits, I'll be at the barre three days a week for sure. Join me! I am still always the girl in the back of the room.
Join Emily! Join us! New schedule begins this week with even earlier morning options, specialty run group training for all levels, and additional weekend classes! Check us out and feel your best yet as you cozy up to the barre....
