Recipe for Success
What a beautiful spring we are having! There is nothing like a little sunshine and warmer temps to inspire one to get out and get moving! Towne Barre has been buzzing with ladies looking to step up their exercise program and/or try something new. Adding Erika's Sunday runs and Marley's stretch and restore yoga to your week are just a couple of ways that many of you have expanded your experiences and done amazing things for your body!
In creating the Towne Barre schedule from day one, our mission has been to bring you a fitness program that would strengthen your body from the inside out. We focus on building muscle that is not only pleasing to the eye, but that is pleasing to our joints and the skeletal system, and that will keep us walking tall and pain-free for many, many years.
For this reason, we have recommended the recipe of a combination of strength and flexibility as the best way to build a better body. Our barre classes are designed to work every major muscle group independently and isometrically to failure in an effort to improve their strength for endurance. We are working to make sure the muscles that support your shoulders, knees and hips are ready for whatever activity you demand of them. Our Pilates Reformer sessions are designed to work these same muscles in more integrated movements. Compound exercise are employed to train your body for both stability and mobility which will again keep you strong and safe to tackle any activity you choose. Barrelates allows us to combine these two modalities in a single class to make the most of your time. And the restorative benefits of foam rolling are so imperative to a healthy body that we just couldn't feel complete without offering you a roll and release option. We are so proud of the schedule that we have provided and are doing our best to have options suitable for everyone. We encourage you to take a look at your week ahead (and every week going forward) and figure out how you can commit to a combination of 3-4 barre and pilates classes every week and make a commitment to keep your body healthy and strong.
In the past six months we have met ladies who have hiked the Grand Canyon, pilgrimaged the el camino de santiago, run marathons and scuba dived in the Caymans. We've also met ladies who spend hours gardening prize winning daffodils, quilting ribbon-worthy quilts, or hunched over computers for hours working on their thesis or studying for MCATs. All of these amazing women have goals that put their bodies in compromising situations. Our goal is to make sure you come away from these goals pain-free, injury-free and strong enough to tackle the next one! So whatever your goal is, add our recipe to your week and know that your body is in good hands when you cozy up to our barre....
